The NIDCD Do You Need a Hearing Test widget asks ten quick questions to help website visitors determine if they should have their hearing tested by a health professional.
Our hearing test widget is an easy way for other websites and blogs to make these test questions available to a broader audience. A widget is an application that displays featured content directly on your website or blog. Once you've added the widget to your site, any future updates to the content will occur automatically through the widget, via the NIDCD website. Because information from our website is in the public domain, use of our widget is both encouraged and free. We appreciate attribution and links back to our site.

The NIDCD hearing test widget may only be used as a tool to access NIDCD-produced content. It cannot be edited or appended in any manner, and use of the widget or linking to our site does not imply that the NIDCD, the National Institutes of Health, or the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service endorse your products, services, or ideas.
The widget is a quiz for adults ages 18 to 64. The results of the quiz should not be used as a substitute for professional health care. We encourage users to work with qualified health providers for answers to their hearing health questions.
Hearing test questions are adapted from Newman, C.W., Weinstein, B.E., Jacobson, G.P., & Hug, G.A. (1990). The Hearing Handicap Inventory for Adults [HHIA]: Psychometric adequacy and audiometric correlates. Ear Hear, 11, 430–433.
The HHIA test was modified for use with adults ages 18 to 64 from the original Hearing Handicap Inventory for the elderly (HHIE), designed for use in adults ages 65 and older. This test has been validated for consistency, test-retest reliability, and construct validity.
