Cued Speech

Cued Speech: Method of communication that combines the mouth movements of speech with visual cues (hand shapes distinguish consonants; hand locations near the mouth distinguish vowels) to help deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals differentiate words that look similar on the lips (e.g., bunch vs. punch) or are hidden from view (e.g., gag).
