12:15-12:45 p.m. — What is D&I?

This session will provide an overview of D&I research including essential definitions, study designs, and a template for conceptualizing D&I projects.
12:45-1:00 p.m. — Examples of different types of D&I projects
- Jessica Caron: Improving literacy outcomes in children who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
- Matt Bush: Communities helping the hearing of infants by reaching parents: The CHHIRP Navigator trial
- Kevin Kerber: DIZZiness Treatment through ImplementatioN & Clinical strategy Tactics (DIZZTINCT-2) project
Speakers will each provide a conceptual overview of a D&I project. Each example will illustrate a different point on a continuum of implementation, from greater emphasis on effectiveness to greater emphasis on implementation.

This session will offer a way of framing capacity needs over the course of learning and conducting D&I research, providing a means of understanding different options for getting started. This framing will help audience members think about where they are in their D&I research, where they want to go, and what might be a good first or next step.
3:45-4:30 p.m. — How can researchers get started with D&I research today?

Speakers will share how they started carrying out D&I research and the actions they took to learn and advance their D&I research agenda at an individual or broader level.
