International Hearing Society

The International Hearing Society (IHS) was formed in 1951 as a professional organization of hearing instrument specialists, the professionals who test hearing and select, fit, and dispense hearing instruments. The society conducts programs pertaining to competence qualification, education, and training, and promotes specialty-level accreditation. IHS sponsors a national toll-free Hearing Aid Helpline, which provides consumers with information and referrals to hearing instrument specialists.
