NIDCD Welcomes Alberto Rivera-Rentas, Ph.D.
Alberto Rivera-Rentas, Ph.D., has joined the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders as the Institute's research training officer. Dr. Rivera-Rentas takes over the Institute's research training officer responsibilities from Daniel Sklare, Ph.D., who retired in January.
Dr. Rivera-Rentas brings a wealth of expertise in managing research training programs and an exemplary record of trans-NIH collaboration experience. Dr. Rivera-Rentas most recently worked as a program officer at the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, now the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, where he served as the research training officer and oversaw the HIV/AIDS and Special Populations portfolio. Prior to NCCIH, he managed several researcher-development and research-training programs for the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. He also was the program official of the NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research ENDURE program and worked on the NIH Director's New Innovator Award program.
Dr. Rivera-Rentas received his Ph.D. in biology with a concentration in neurobiology at the University of Puerto Rico.
