New Press

The WISE EARS!® campaign made the February 28, 2000, issue of the LA Times!

The National Edition carried a front-page story above the fold, left column, on the effect of hearing loss. The Health Section devoted the full first and second pages to three hearing-related stories, including early identification and screening of newborns, tinnitus, and aging and hearing loss. The Home Edition ran a story on how to protect hearing and mentioned the WISE EARS!® campaign. Other articles focused on cochlear implants, how to stay connected as a hard of hearing person, and the mechanics of hearing.

We worked with the Times health writer, Rosie Miestel, over the past couple of months, and we are thrilled that so many of our coalition members were included in the stories. Congratulations to the following organizations mentioned or used as sources in these articles:

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
American Tinnitus Association
H.E.A.R.
House Ear Institute
Oregon Hearing and Research Center
NIOSH
NIDCD
