Current Projects:

Vestibular reflexes that help to maintain our balance and visual field are fast responses, occurring in milliseconds. The central region of the vestibular organs is thought to be important for mediating these fast responses based on known physiological properties of the specialized hair cells and nerve endings located in this region. The molecular mechanisms that mediate the formation of this central region during development, however, are not known. My research project focuses on the molecular mechanisms that dictate the formation of the central region of the vestibular organs during development.

Research Interests:
Development, regeneration, vestibular function, morphogen, patterning.
