Healthy Hearing 2010 is dedicated to helping people improve and protect their hearing health. It is a part of a public health campaign called Healthy People 2010, a national health promotion and disease prevention initiative from the federal government. Its goals are to increase the quality and years of healthy life and eliminate health disparities. It challenges individuals, communities, and professionals—indeed, all of us—to take specific steps to ensure that good health, as well as long life, are enjoyed by all.
Planning for Healthy People 2020
Every 10 years, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) sets and monitors a group of national health objectives to increase the quality and years of healthy life and to eliminate health disparities. Healthy People 2020 is currently assessing the objectives of the past decade, measuring the impact of its prevention activity, and developing new 10-year targets. To learn more about the development of Healthy People 2020, visit the Healthy People web site at: http://www.healthypeople.gov/hp2020/.
HHS is seeking public input from communities across the country on the proposed Healthy People 2020 objectives. A public comment database on the proposed objectives will open on October 30, 2009. To see the list of proposed Healthy People 2020 Objectives, visit http://www.healthypeople.gov/hp2020/Objectives/TopicAreas.aspx.
HHS will hold three public meetings. These meetings are free and open to everyone. Seating is limited. For more information, visit http://www.healthypeople.gov/hp2020/regional/default.asp
