Chart showing infant hearing screening rates. Follow the text version link for data.

[text version]

The graph shows annual United States percentages for: (1) infants with hearing screening in the first year of life, (2) newborn babies receiving hearing screening before age 1 month, (3) infants with possible hearing loss receiving hearing evaluation before age 3 months, and (4) infants with hearing loss receiving hearing intervention services before age 6 months. These data are reported to Healthy People 2010, focus area 28 (Chapter on Vision and Hearing) based on individual State reports from the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program (EHDI), 1999–2009 Web site. Trend data on newborn hearing screening rates are also available from the DHHS Healthy People 2010 Project (US DHHS, 2006), which can be found by examining CDC Wonder: Healthy People 2010.
