Misperceptions Concerning Otopathology

1. Otopathology is of historical interest only, and all that can be learned from otopathology has been learned.
2. Otopathology has decreased relevance for the current practice of otology and is less relevant than, for example, subtleties of surgical technique in the training of future otolaryngologists or otologists / neurotologists.
3. The NIDCD and the NIH in general have very little interest in funding otopathologic studies.
