Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS)

The Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), an office within the U.S. Department of Education, is dedicated to improving results for infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities' including communication disorders' from birth through age 21 and providing leadership and financial support to assist states and local districts. OSEP awards formula grants to states as well as discretionary grants to institutions of higher education and other nonprofit organizations to support research, demonstrations, technical assistance and dissemination, technology and personnel development, and parent-training and information centers.
